Today was magical.
Tall, slender, burnt trees, with just a little bit the cold white stuff, with a perfect blue sky in the background. It really doesn’t get any better.

We opted to ski a little further south today to avoid the canyon closures, and we definitely made the right choice. Turns out there’s a nifty site that tells you the snow totals for all of the mountains. This is a big game changer for us in our decision making.

The area we skied in had 30+ inches of snow, with 4 inches of water so fairly dense, but so so fun! It also made for some really difficult trail-breaking. I opted to stay in the front the entire time (3500 feet for one lap) for the challenge, and my legs are definitely tired. I think it it wasn’t unearthly I would’ve had a harder time continuing. But because of the incredible skiing, and the incredible views, I could’ve skied all day.
We ended up doing 6500 feet and it was all incredible. We skied a couple familiar lines and a new one as well. We were happy to find really stable conditions with zero avalanche problems.
Sometimes we choose wrong, today was not one of those days. Today was magical.
